World Cup "soccer"

As I write this, France and Croatia have now qualified for the final of soccer's global tournament, the World Cup.

While I have not watched many of the games, my sense is the two remaining teams are the most deserving - France for the sheer superiority of their game, Croatia for their resilience and will. It should be a great championship; hopefully America will qualify for the World Cup in four years.

Now, had England qualified for and won the final, I would have playfully agreed to call the sport "football" for the next four years among some of my fellow dads in our neighborhood.

Fortunately, that didn't happen.
