Right turns

To me, the criteria of whether or not you have picked a good place to live is what people complain about. As near as I can tell, the biggest complaints in our community are the delays at traffic lights during rush hour.

My sense is that if traffic is the largest problem you have, then you live in an attractive place that others want to come to, and are doing well.

To that point, the conversation in our car occasionally revolves around the remarkable "inconvenience" of 30-60 seconds of delay, "caused" by the driver in front of us deciding to be in the rightmost travel lane at a stoplight when he or she is not turning right, and there is no dedicated right-turn lane.

Of course, they have every right to be in that lane. But this is a source of conversation in our car, and I suspect in other cars as well.

And of course, if this is your problem, then you don't have problems.
